And finally, we are here! We are at the end of a journey; we are at the end of a chapter of our lives; like warriors, we fought valiantly, we won our battles, we are victorious, we overcame all the hurdles in 2013, we fought our fights of faith and we emerged the winners because God was with us! The devil has been put to shame; our enemies and haters are terribly bruised and disappointed! I congratulate you!

Social media and the technologies that drive it were intended to be a force for social good that expanded the individual’s reach beyond his physical proximity. However, over the years since the emergence of the medium many of its users are beginning to see a negative side of its use amongst young people which must be addressed otherwise it will lead to an erosion of core societal values.

As a youth and young adult, many of those in my age bracket learnt the art of reading people’s non-verbal communications or body language by practising whole body listening and it helped us grow from self awareness to awareness of others and from self management to relationship management. But today, many young adults are unable to develop these vital skills because more of their communication are done over social media. Youths have learnt the art of reading the keypads of an iPhone or blackberry device without looking at it and can even Instant Message a friend while driving without looking at the keypad. The non-verbal language they read meanings to are emoticons.

When looking at recipes for cookies, there is always the thought of the baking time. If you do not have a convection oven, it usually means baking in many batches, so the oven is on for long periods. What if baking was not necessary? When a busy Mom is on the go, anything that is quick and easy is going to be the first option. These recipes have been made many times over my years as a Mom, and I hope to pass along these recipes for everyone with time at a premium.

No Bake Caramel Cookies
In a large saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 3/4 cup butter and 2/3 cup evaporated milk. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil, stirring often. Remove the pan from the heat and add in one small package of instant butterscotch pudding mix and 3 1/2 cups of quick cooking rolled oats. Mix this together thoroughly and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Drop the dough from a teaspoon onto waxed paper. This will make about 5 dozen cookies.

Daughter of Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka, Iyetade Soyinka has passed on at the age of 48.
48-year-old Soyinka died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital after a brief illness. Jahman Anikulapo, an aide to Wole Soyinka, made this known in a statement released on behalf of the family.

Anikulapo’s statement described the deceased as “affable, intelligent and sometimes capricious,” adding that she “struggled with her health in recent years.” Despite her health woes, the late Iyetade Soyinka “greeted every day with a smile and doted on her two children.”

Soyinka is survived by two children, both parents, numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.

May her soul rest in peace.

Ditch the “500 crunches” workouts and do more intense core work with exercises like windmills, Turkish situps, hanging leg raises, etc.

Nude rights activist Gypsy Taub, 44, was arrested on Thursday after her wedding to Jaymz Smith, 20, on the steps of City Hall in San Francisco, according to the Associated Press.

Officiant and former San Francisco nudist mayoral candidate presided over the ceremony and finished with the words, “Kiss and conjugate.”

Karen Igho Announces That She Has Cancer

The 2011 BBA (Big Brother Africa) winner, Karen Igho has announced that she has cancer.

She said it through a tweet: “I have cancer. Are you guys happy?????”

That is so sad. Why would any decent person be happy about that?

She didn’t reveal the nature of her cancer, but we recall that she had undergone treatment for lumps found in her breast before she got into the Big Brother Africa house back in 2011.

Her manager said he was not at liberty to comment on the issue at the moment. "We will not comment on the issue of cancer now as it is still a sensitive thing. Medical tests are still been run and we would appreciate if our decision not to comment on it is respected," he said.

Let’s pray for her healing, God can give her a Christmas miracle.

The ever controversial US-based Nigerian soft porn actress and producer, Afrocandy has returned to Facebook. It’s been weeks since Facebook restricted her from posting unclad pictures on her page.

The mother of two announced her comeback on her Facebook page during the week, saying:

“I was gone for a minute now I am back again…I won’t be posting anymore sexy stuffs here because of the censorship imposed on me by Facebook. Even though I am not as explicit as the Hollywood stars are..on the social network.”

She also announced launching her own social network site. Here is her statement:

“For that reason I have created my own socialnetwork; www.afrocandysnetwork.com where I can post whatever I want and feel like,”.

In true Afrocandy fashion, she posted some x-rated pictures to show what the website is all about.

Vin Diesel Announces the Release Date of 'Fast And Furious 7'

Via his official Facebook page, Vin Diesel announced that the release date for "Fast and Furious 7" is April 10, 2015.

Last month, "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker passed away in a tragic car accident in Valencia, California (Read the story HERE). Filming for the sequel was still underway with the movie originally set for a summer 2014 release.

Diesel announced the news along with a photo of himself with Walker filming their final scene together.

Doctors End Strike, Resume Work Today

The National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Osahon Enabulele on Sunday said doctors in public hospitals would end their five-day warning strike and resume duty today.

Enabulele, in a statement in Lagos, said all doctors in the public health sector would resume full services with effect from 8.00 a.m. on December 23.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NMA had on December 15 directed its members to embark on a nationwide strike to protest doctors’ poor working conditions, inadequate funding, and poor infrastructure in the nation’s health sector.

Well, it’s great that doctors are resuming work today especially since the holiday period is here. Health is wealth.

I defined love as "doing something that's in the best interest of another person." You see, love is not only something sweet and pleasant, it can also be painful. Yes, love can hurt especially when we don't understand it. An act of discipline is certainly not a pleasant one; but it has to be done in the interest of that person. What matters is the motive behind the action. A break up might hurt, but it might leave you a lot better! Meanwhile, you could be clinging onto someone with a false understanding of love not realising that you are actually doing yourself a disservice (I speak not to the married).

Since the ladies of the Rylstone WI produced the first naked calender to raise money for charity in 1999, an adventure that raised millions and spawned a Hollywood feature film, naked calenders have become the go-to option for any cash strapped project.

We have seen naked sports men and women, naked firemen, naked bakers, and we can expect, naked school teachers in the future. But, today, we have the ladies of the Camp Hill Rugby Club,Shirley, Birmingham, UK releasing a naked calender. It is black and white presentation and some say it is the worst effort yet. Apparently, little attention was paid to the quality of photography or treatment.

“I think it’s a brave thing that they’ve done but they can’t seriously think it looks any good,” says unimpressed local, June Birchall.

Team manager, Jessica Ham says, “There’s no money in women’s rugby so we need to be inventive when fund-raising.” And she is apparently pleased with the results, “We’re pleased with the way it came out; we wanted it to be fun and tasteful.” Ham takes credit for asking the women to be photographed nude to raise money for their club.
